Fall in love with Gdańsk
Walk in the footsteps of lovers
Information about the trip
Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to get to know Gdańsk through the prism of heart and discovering many love stories, secret romances, trysting places of former townsfolk. In Gdańsk you can find many objects that at first glance don’t have love association. The alleys of Gdańsk streets, nooks of churches, interiors of the tenement buildings cloak secrets of famous romances and broken hearts. Few people know that Gdańsk is a mine of love legends.
In historic walls of St. Mary's Church or Main and Old Town tenement buildings there are traces of interesting love stories, those romantic to the grave, but also those unhappy, reminding of Romeo’s and Juliet’s fates.
On the occasion of the Valentine’s day we would like to take you for a walk in the footsteps of lovers. We’ll get to know the real and heard stories, as well as key places on the map that can be marked with heart symbol. Our route runs through the streets of the Old and Main Town. Following the trail of love, you can find out to whom the fameous astronomer Johannes Hevelius gave his heart, what were Maurice Feber’s trials and tribulations before he became cleric. We’d like to tell you about the Nicolaus Copernicus’ secret love. We’ re going to call by The Love Bridge, where lovers hang locks as a sign of their love. We’ll look at the… cementary gate at which countless love photographs were taken, as well as atmospheric Kiss Alley. There also will be movie thread and competition for participants. This time we’ll look at the city from a slighty different perspective, but taking into account key monuments at the same time. We;re going to finish our tour on the Lonh Shore with the view on Motława River and multiple restaurants, cafes. Maybe you will call by one of them, as everyone knows, the way to a somebody’s heart is through… stomach :)
